WE’RE MOVING!

By admin

For over a year and a half, gracepointe church has been meeting at Poole Elementary and we have seen God do some really exciting things. Many people have come to Christ and many have gained a sense of fulfillment and meaning in their life.
After much prayer & thought, we have decided to move.
Beginning Sunday October 4th, gracepointe church will be meeting in the brand new Auditorium at North Paulding High School. NPHS provides incredible facilities for all age groups with plenty of room to grow.

Not only is the best yet to come for gracepointe, but our most exciting days for ministry and growth are ahead of us.
Tonight, will be giving out treats at the North Paulding BONFIRE & TAILGATE PARTY at 6:00!

Back to School

By admin

I love the commercial I saw on television recently with the dad doing the back to school shopping (like that’s going to happen), with the kids & the background music of,  ”It’s the most wonderful time of the year “.

The beginning of a new school year always conjures up so many emotions for me.  Fear, dread and excitement for a child and yet relief for some parents.  I can remember growing up & how I dreaded seeing the first day of school come.  Our daughter Emma, so far has had a extremely busy, yet for the most part, an uneventful first week.

This week has also been back to school for me personally.  I find myself often times having to learn the same old lessons over and over again.  Lessons like Psalm 37:5, “Commit your way to the Lord ; Trust in Him and He will do this”.   Speaking of Psalm 37,  it encourages me to see how many times God says, “Do Not Fret”.

I love the statement in today’s entry from My Utmost For His Highest, “When there has been the slightest deviation from the will of God, we begin to ask -  What is Thy will? “

I am in the midst of many extremely  important decisions right now.  As an adult and follower of Jesus Christ; I continually am reminded of the lessons I learned early on in life.

There are many exciting and challenging opportunities in store for gracepointe this Fall.  It’s back to school once again.

Flee from sexual immorality

By admin

This mourning I took our dog out as I do at the start of each day, nothing unusual . Just as I was about to take her inside she caught a glimpse of a lady walking in our neighborhood , I knew what was about to take place. My dog began to make her fierce growling sound which sounds a bit like she is gargling , this was then followed by a ferocious torrent of barking .The walker was startled and jumped back , but then she caught sight of what was making all this commotion , her fright quickly turned to uncontrollable laughter.By the way did I mention my dogs name is sweet pea ,a chihuahua weighing all of 31/2 pounds?I apologized for my killer  ”guard dog” and went inside . Most fears in life are just like that , rarely as bad as they first seem , however some are worse.Sexual sin is one of those sins that can carry devastating consequences.Paul states clearly when it comes to sexual sin we are to simply flee,I Corinthians 6:18, in other words get out of dodge and quick . Paul doesn’t  make allowances or try to rationalize he just says flee. That means all forms of sexual activity outside the protective boundaries of God,s word . The scriptures teach that sexual sins are unlike any other , see verse 15-20, same chapter . Sexual sin in spite of what many try to justify  involves a level of intimacy that goes beyond just a physical act. A level of intimacy that involves the emotions , our mind and even spirit , not just our body. Immorality is nothing to laugh at , no idle threat ,we have to learn to flee at the first sign of trouble.

The I Touch

By admin

Today was an incredible day at gracepointe! Several people prayed to receive Christ , many more came forward to pray for someone that God was using them to touch.      I spoke on Mark 5, the story of the woman who had seen every doctor , spent everything she had and was only worse. If I could think of one word that described her condition it would be desperate. For her Jesus wasn’t  just an option or something she might try , Jesus was her only hope. In verse  28 she said “if only I could touch his clothes I SHALL be made well”.The bible says that many people were pressing against Jesus , in other words she wasn’t the only one who “touched”Jesus but she was the only one healed, how, why, what made the difference? She was the only one in the crowd who touched Jesus with her heart not just her hand. That kind of desperate faith makes us the prime candidate for God to show up in our lives and do something truly miraculous. How desperate am I for  a real touch from God .

The waiting is the hardest part

By admin

I recall as I am sitting here in the Ft Lauderdale airport a Tom Petty song with the above title , flying standby is a challenge to those of us with a short supply of patience . You would think that waiting would be easy because we spend so much of our lives doing just that waiting for someone or something . Waiting for me is never easy I usually want whatever I want right now yet as far as my experience as a follower of Christ is concerned  waiting is an important part of  my journey . In Isaiah God  reminds us of the benefits of waiting. We will run and not get weary , walk and not faint and my favorite , fly like an eagle . Waiting offers me the opportunity to rest and refocus on my priorities.I think its finally time to board and get ready to soar like an eagle , then wait some more.

Love One Another

By admin

This week Kelly & I will be flying to Miami to celebrate our Anniversary and spend a few days with family.  I can still remember our wedding day , the ceremony was led by our dear friend and Pastor, Dr. Johnny Hunt.  What I remember most about the day is leaving the church with my new wife and the joy and excitement of knowing we were finally husband and wife.

In John 15:12, Jesus said, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you”.  We not only have a mandate to love, but a model in Christ of how we are to love.  This past weekend was an unforgettable opportunity to experience and express this kind of love.  gracepointe church along with 34 other church’s were a part of ENGAGE ATLANTA.  Through many projects we were able to embrace our community with the love of Christ.

Saturday night was another unforgettable experience.  For 5 years I served as Minister of Students at First Baptist Snellville, GA.  Our Youth worship service was called “Power Hour”.  Saturday night Kelly & I attended a “Power Hour Reunion”.  As I saw these “kids” now grown with families of their own, many of them in full time ministry, each of them still deeply touched by the love of Christ.  I was both humbled and in awe at the impact our lives make on those around us.  Loving isn’t easy as evidenced by our Lord, but it always pays the highest dividends in the long run.

“Lord, help me to love my wife, my children, my church,  my community and others the way  that you have loved us.”
